How to use the QR Code Generator

  1. Choose a QR Code Type: Website URL, Plain Text, Wi-Fi, Contact, Email, Phone, SMS or Location.
  2. Fill the fields for that type (URL, text, network name and password, contact details, and so on).
  3. Optionally customise QR Colour, Background, Dot Style, Size and Error Correction.
  4. Optionally include the Catpool logo, or upload your own PNG, JPG or WebP. Use Remove image to clear an upload. Higher error correction is safer when a logo sits in the middle.
  5. Click Generate QR Code, then Download PNG, Download SVG or Copy QR. Reset clears the form.

What it is for

A QR code is a square barcode a phone camera can read. This generator builds one from the type you pick: a website, plain text, Wi-Fi (WPA / WPA2 / WPA3, WEP or no password, plus a hidden-network tick), a contact card, email, phone, SMS, or a map pin from latitude and longitude.

Colour and background default to black on white, which scans most reliably. Dot styles (Square, Dots, Rounded, Classy, Classy Rounded, Extra Rounded) change the look for print. Sizes run from 200×200 to 500×500. Error correction: Low for a smaller code, Medium as the recommended default, High or Maximum when a logo sits on top.

Your uploaded image stays in the browser. For a linear product barcode rather than a phone-friendly square, use the Barcode Generator.

Why it runs in your browser

The code is drawn in the tab. Wi-Fi passwords, phone numbers and contact cards are not uploaded to Catpool, and neither is a logo you attach. That is the safer way to put a real network password on a kitchen print-out.

Common questions

Which type should I use for a Wi-Fi card?

Wi-Fi. Enter the network name, password and security type. Tick Hidden network if the SSID does not broadcast. A guest can then scan instead of typing the key.

PNG or SVG?

PNG is a regular image for slides and most printers. SVG is a vector, so it stays sharp when you scale it on a poster. Copy QR puts the image on the clipboard when you want to paste without downloading.

Why would I raise error correction?

So the code still scans if part of it is covered by a logo, a fold or a bit of damage. Maximum is the usual choice when you embed an image; Low keeps the pattern smaller if the code is clean and empty.
