How to play Purrfect Bridge

1. Pick a material. Road is the only thing cats can walk on. Wood is a light support. Steel is a strong support that reaches further, but later levels only give you a few.
2. Drag from a red anchor on the bank, or from any white joint, to place a beam. Beams snap to the grid and have a maximum length.
3. Lay a road all the way from the red anchor on one bank to the one on the other side, then hold it up with triangles of wood or steel. If there is a gap, the game shows you where.
4. Mind your beams. Each level has a beam limit, shown as Beams 7 / 11. The white mark on the bar is the target: build it with that many beams or fewer for three stars.
5. Press Go! and the cats set off. Beams turn from green to red as they strain, and snap if they are pushed too far.
6. Splash? No harm done, the cats paddle back to the bank. Press Rebuild, make it stronger and try again.

Tips for three stars

• Triangles are strong. Squares wobble and fold.
• Go long. A longer beam still counts as one beam, so a 2 square beam can save you a lot.
• Save your Steel. It arrives on level 3 and is rationed, so put it where the bridge strains most.
• Watch the colours. Run a test, see which beams go red, then strengthen just those.
• Fix mistakes fast. Use Erase or right click to remove a beam, and Undo (Ctrl+Z) to step back.

Frequently asked questions

How many levels are there?

12. The cats get heavier every level, from a 5 kg Slinky to the 90 kg Cosmic Chonk, so a bridge that worked last time may not hold now. Clear a level to unlock the next, and press Levels to see every level and your stars.

Can I choose my cat?

Yes. Press Pick your cat to choose the fur, pattern, eyes, hat, outfit and extra of the cat that leads the way, or Shuffle for a surprise. The cats come from the Cat Generator, and any cats you have sprayed on The Catpool Wall from this device join the line too.

Do the cats get hurt?

Never. If a bridge gives way, the cats land in the water with a splash and paddle happily back to the bank for another go.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The board scales to fit your screen and you build with your finger. It also works with a mouse on a computer.

Is there sound?

Gentle sound effects play once you start building. Tap the speaker button to turn them off; your choice is remembered.

Where is my progress saved?

In your browser on this device: your stars, your bridges and the cat you picked. There is no account to create and nothing to download.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free, with no downloads and no sign-up. It is a small original game made for Catpool.
